India has been witnessing a rapid spike in COVID cases recently. The second wave of the deadly virus has gripped the country with its newly mutated strain. Recording the biggest surge since November, India has reported 46,951 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The country’s tally now stands at 1,16,46,081.
With 30,535 new infections, Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of COVID cases, followed by Punjab with 2,644 cases, Kerala with 1,875, Karanataka with 1,715 and Gujarat with 1,580.
The new strain of coronavirus is spreading in the national capital rapidly. Delhi has recorded 800 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours.
